Sybil Cowart Frizzelle

March 6, 1909 — September 1, 2005

Mrs. Sybil Cowart Frizzelle, age 96, of Birmingham, Alabama, left this life for her Heavenly home on September 1, 2005. A native of Dalton, Georgia, she spent her childhood years in Marietta before moving to Decatur, Georgia, where she lived until moving to Birmingham in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lee and Myra Green Cowart; step-father, William Wade Cowart; sister, Thelma Cowart, and beloved husband of 68 years, Charles Murray Frizzelle, Sr. Mrs. Frizelle is survived by her daughter, Myralyn Frizzelle Allgood (Steve) of Birmingham; her son, Charles Murray Frizzelle, Jr. (Marcia) of Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Allison Allgood Shaw (Jack), Patrick Todd Frizzelle (Melissa), Brian Gregory Frizzelle (Katie); great grandsons, Stephen, Patrick, Luke, and Will Shaw; great granddaughters, Grayson and Madeleine Frizzelle; daughters of her heart, Muriel Allgood Lyke and Nelida Cerna; and devoted caregiver, Ida Mae Prentice. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, Dr. Peter Rhea Jones officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the service. Visitation on the evening of Sept. 6 will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur from 5 until 7 p.m. The family would like to express special thanks to the angels at Amedisys Hospice and other dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Missions Fund of the First Baptist Church of Decatur; the Language Mission Fund at Samford University; World Vision; or a favorite charity.
