Sylvia A. (Watson) Carroll, age 81 of Decatur, passed away on December 16, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 12, 1939 in Meridian, Mississippi. Sylvia was a graduate of Pachuta High School and the University of Southern Mississippi where she majored in Home Economics. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Pascal L. Watson and Emma (Cox) Watson and brother, Pascal L. Watson Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby J. Carroll and sons, Joseph R. Carroll (& Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA and Christopher W. Carroll (& Leigh) of Gatesville, TX, her sister, Linda L. Boatner of Jefferson, GA and 4 grandchildren, Alexander, Will, Claudia and Jack.
Sylvia was an active member of Briarlake Baptist Church and volunteered with the ladies sewing group as well as the Home Bound Ministry. Sylvia spent many years faithfully leading Bible studies and truly had the gift of teaching. Her faith was very important to her and informed every area of her life. Second only to her faith was her family.
She was married to her soulmate, Bobby, for 58 years and they rarely spent a night apart. A great joy in her life was watching her sons play sports. She cheered loud and never missed a game. She also loved to watch her grandchildren”s various sporting events, and if she couldn't physically attend, she always looked forward to the highlights.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home. Please wear face masks and observe social distancing. A private family inurnment will take place at Decatur Cemetery.
