Sylvia Jean Collins, 70, of Decatur, GA passed away on June 5th 2017. Sylvia was a free spirit, always full of life and laughter. Some of her most joyful moments included playing tennis on her ALTA team at Piedmont Park, sharing music with her coffee house friends, and watching her beloved birds from her patio.

She was born in Newnan, GA and grew up in Rome, GA where she attended Thornwood School. She graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY with a bachelor’s degree. She later attended Georgia State University earning a Masters Degree in counseling that led to her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents Carl T. and Lillian Collins of Rome GA and brother Tom Collins of Atlanta. Surviving loved ones include her brother Stephen and sister- in- law Betsy Collins of Avondale Estates, nieces Cindy and Cathy Collins, and nephew Tommy Collins.

Family will receive friends Friday, June 9th from 6-8 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur. Graveside service will be at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Rome, GA on June 10th at 2:00 PM.
