Ted L. Williams, Sr., age 83 of Decatur, Georgia died on October 25, 2004. Originally from Bellamy, Alabama, Ted graduated with honors from Auburn University where he majored in Business Administration and served as President of Theta Chi fraternity. He served as Captain in the Field Artillery for the U. S. Army during World War II and moved to the Atlanta area in 1946. Ted had a distinguished career of over 40 years in the retail industry, holding a number of executive positions with Rich?s in Operations and Management. He retired with J. C. Penney in 2000. Ted was active in a number of civic associations, including Atlanta Civitan where he served as Sergeant-at-Arms and President. He was an avid golfer throughout his adult life. Mr. Williams is survived by his sons, Ted Williams, Jr. and wife, Janice; Alan Williams; Louis Williams and wife Pam; and daughter Susan Wyman and husband Bill. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Lauren and Carolyn Williams; Brittany and Danielle Williams; David, Jason and Jayne Dees. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. James Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
