Thelma Culpepper Jackson

June 8, 1913 — October 31, 2004

Mrs. Thelma Culpepper Jackson (affectionately known at "T.J.") died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at age 91.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Jackson; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Emmet K. Culpepper, Sr.; and her brother, Emmet K. Culpepper, Jr.  Mrs. Jackson was a native Atlantan and attended Atlanta schools, graduating from Girls? High in 1931.  She also attended business school and worked for Sears/Roebuck.  She was a wonderful wife and mother, spending time being involved in her daughters? school activities and leading Girl Scouts for 15 years.  She was a faithful member of Epworth UMC for 72 ¢ years.  She was married there in 1936, raised her family there, and spent many tireless hours devoting her time and many talents.  She was involved in the children?s ministries and United Methodist Women where she served, at various times, as President, Vice President, and Secretary.  Mrs. Jackson was the Church Secretary for 35 years until her retirement in 1999 at age 86.  She especially loved to sing and was a long-time member of the Adult Choir until 2 years ago.  She touched many lives along the way.  Thelma was a beautiful, Christian lady who had a special way of demonstrating her unfailing faith to family, friends and, at times, even to strangers.  She was known to many as ?the banana pudding lady??her favorite covered-dish dessert.  Her sweet spirit, her strength, and her love of humankind is her legacy.  She will be greatly missed.  Mrs. Jackson is survived by her sister, Mrs. Marilyn Dorman, Grand Rapids, MI; her daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Vonn Sieber, Monroe, GA, Ann and Ron Causey, Snellville, GA; her grandchildren, Lea Ann Rembert, Matt Sieber, Brent Causey, Adam Causey, Allison Causey; and a great grandchild, Ellen Rose Causey.  A memorial service will be held at Epworth UMC, Atlanta, on Saturday, November 6, at 2 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Epworth UMC.  The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in the church parlor.
