Mr. Thomas J. Bennett, 86, of Atlanta, GA, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 2, 2010 with his family at his side. Mr. Bennett was born July 6, 1924 in Cumming GA to W.A. Bennett and Bertha Pendley Bennett. He served in the US Army during Word War II and in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Lithonia Mobile Homes and Lithonia Septic Tank. T.J., as he was better known, was loved by all who met him. He was a very kind, gentle and loving man who was extremely devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Bennett is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ferrel Crowe Bennett; his two daughters and their spouses, Kathy and Phil Foster, and Sandy and Ron Bennett, both of Atlanta, GA; and one son, Jeff Bennett of Hudson, FL; three grandchildren, Matt Foster, Ashlyn Foster and Chris Bennett. He is also survived by one brother, James Bennett of Rockmart, GA; and one sister. Sara Leitch of Villa Rica, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 5th at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Loyal Clay officiating. Interment, Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
