Thomas(Tom)Henry Brodnax died peacefully in his home at Clairmont Lake Place on Friday, February 23, 2007. He was born August 29, 1918, only son of Henry and Jessie Dearing Brodnax in Decatur, Georgia. He lived in Decatur his whole life with the exception of the time he was in service in the Army Air Corp. during W.W.II where he served in Albuquerque, NM and Midland, TX as bombardier instructor attaining the rank of Captain. Returning to Decatur with his beloved wife Edna May Keener Brodnax he worked with Southern Transfer before establishing Brodnax Cartage, Inc. and J & B Cartage Co. in 1963 while rearing 4 children. Tom went to Decatur schools graduating from Decatur Boys High. He was a deacon and an active member of the Alert Class at First Baptist of Decatur. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in law, Jim and Peggy Brodnax, Billy and Cheryl Brodnax; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Fran and Henry Frantz, and Beth and Bill Clarke; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sister Anne Brodnax Groover Massengale; and sister-in-law, Frances Keener Creech. Services will be on Sunday at 2:00 PM at First Baptist of Decatur with graveside services following at Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the First Baptist Church of Decatur, or your favorite charity, would be appreciated. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Saturday, February 24th at A. S. Turner & Sons.
