Tommy “Big T” McArthur Tolbert, 77, of Avondale Estates, GA, passed away on July 10, 2020. Born November 4, 1942, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Jack Wilbur Tolbert and Corine Frances (Harbin) Tolbert. Tommy was a past member of Confederate Ave. Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA, and a graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was retired from Delta Airlines after 29 years. Member and past Worshipful Master of Ben Hill Masonic Lodge #674 Atlanta, GA, he was also a member of South Fulton Shrine Club and Yaarab Shrine Temple, Atlanta, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack W. Tolbert Jr. and Tony Tolbert. A Georgia Bulldog fan for life (Go Dawgs!), he loved being with his many friends “laughing and joking and telling lies.” Discovering his passion for cruising, he was one day short of being a Four-Star Mariner.
He was a gift from God to his wife, who survived him, Jeanne R. Tolbert. He is also survived by three step-children, four step-grandchildren, 4 step-greatgrandchildren, many nieces and nephews, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law who will dearly miss him.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in his memory to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
