Travis Vernon Godbee

December 24, 1940 — October 30, 2015

Travis Godbee was born the first child and only son of Mary Rogers Godbee and Vernon Godbee at Pheobe Putnam Hospital in Albany, GA in 1940. He spent his childhood in South Carolina living at Folly Beach, Ravenel, and CawCaw Swamp. There he was active in the community church and played football for St. Paul's Parrish High school going to the state championship. He spent many hot summer days working with his father in his logging business cutting timber in the swamp. As a graduate of Furman University he would go on to earn a Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Lousiville, KY. Earning a Masters of Vocational Rehabilitation, he spent 30 years of his working life as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the state of Georgia. Where he was well respected, helped may people, and touched many lives. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Patricia Mann Godbee:, son, Gus Godbee, and daughter in law, Melissa Godbee, 2 granddaughters, Gretta and Willa Godbee, and his sister, Sharon Pleniewicz of Byron, Illinois. He is held in loving memory by many friends and family throughout the community. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday November 4 at the chapel of A. S. Turner and Son with Dr. Rex Kaney and Rev. Dave Allen-Grady officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 am Wednesday at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
