Troyce J. Cofer , 93, passed away on March 17, 2014 at his home in Decatur, Ga. His loving wife , of almost 72 years, Agnes Britt Cofer was at his side. He was born to Henry and Mardel Cofer in Norcross,Ga. Baseball was always a big part of his life, and after graduating from Norcross High, Troyce went on to play with several minor league teams including St Augustine, Spartanburg, Macon and Charleston. A WWII veteran, he entered the US Army in 1943 and served in the 265th Engineers Combat Division in Belgium, Germany and Austria until his discharge in 1946. Upon his return to Atlanta, he played amateur ball while working at GM and Coca-Cola. At the age of 28 he had the opportunity to re-enter professional baseball and sign with the Buffalo Bisons and later the Atlanta Crackers. Following this, he continued to play industrial league ball and worked at Atlantic Steel before settling in the termite control business with Getz Exterminators and AandA Exterminators for over 25 years. Troyce and Agnes especially loved to spend time with family and friends. They enjoyed dancing, travel, volunteering and were active members of Brookhaven Baptist Church and later Briarcliff Baptist.Troyce is survived by his wife , his sister Helen McClain and husband Luke of Jasper, Ga; sons Jimmy and wife Susy of Marietta,Ga; Fred and wife Carolyn of Palm Bay, Fl; grandchildren Jesse, Leigh, John, Thomas, and his wife Ivy; great grandchildren Peyton and Macy Rae.Troyce is preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers Leon, Marshall and his twin, Royce.The family will be present at A.S.Turner and Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Rd, Decatur, Ga 30033, from 6:00 to 8:00PM, Wednesday, March 19th, for visitation. Funeral services also to be held at A.S. Turner at 1:00 PM,Thursday, March 20th. Presiding will be the Reverend Paul Millarc of Briarcliff Baptist. Internment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, Ga. A.S. Turner Funeral Home and Crematory
