Ulla Margaretha Zreloff

On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 Ulla Margaretha Zreloff, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 70. Ulla was born on July 9, 1948 in Kristinehamn, Sweden to Anna-Greta and Rolf Waerme. On April 27,1968 she married Peter Zreloff. They raised two sons, Jan and Bjorn.

Ulla cared for people her whole life. At the age of 16, she assumed the role of caregiver for her family when her mother suddenly died. She was a devoted wife for 50 years and an ever-present source of support for her two sons. In 1977 Peter and Ulla moved their young family from Sweden to Smyrna, Georgia. Once her boys were grown, Ulla provided child care to many families and was known as the ‘Swedish Mary Poppins’. Her final and longest childcare relationship was for her two granddaughters, Anna and Kelly. She nannied for them their entire childhood. Ulla was seen at many playgrounds with her bag of books and snacks and was a ray of sunshine to young mothers who benefitted from her calm, positive, and decisive manner. She loved to garden and knit and was known for her famous ‘farmor socks’.

Ulla is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ulf. She is survived by her husband, Peter, her twin sister, Lena Bergstrom, her sons Jan and Bjorn, their spouses Monica Arredondo and Jennifer Zreloff, as well as her five grandchildren: Zoe, Anna, Kelly, Sebastian, and Elias.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Decatur First United Methodist Church located at 300 E. Ponce de Leon, Decatur, GA 30030 at 4:00 PM. A reception will follow the service at the church. Ulla’s final journey will be back to Sweden where her ashes will be laid to rest.
