Today an angel flew home to her maker. Vasiliki P. “Doris” Javo passed away Saturday evening, March 12, 2011 at 7:15 p.m. after a long illness. She was born February 25, 1922 to George and Maria Pefinis. She, her sister Angelyn and brother Charles, all grew up here in Atlanta. Vasiliki attended Girls High and worked for the government during WWII. She met and married George N. Javo in 1948. The two of them had four sons, George, Gregory, Christopher and Michael. The Javo family attended the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation where she and her husband gave generously of their time and money. Vasiliki Javo served as past president of the Philoptochos Society of Atlanta. She now joins those of her family that have gone before, George, Sr., George, Jr., and Michael. She is survived by two of her sons Gregory and Christopher, two daughters-in-law, Karen and Deborah and five grandchildren, Christopher, Savannah Nicole, Adam, Ashley and Alexander. We will hold you in our hearts, as Mother Earth will hold your body as Our Father in Heaven holds your immortal soul, until we see you and yours again. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at eleven o’clock at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. The family will receive friends Monday, March 14, 2011 from six until eight o’clock with a prayer service at seven o’clock at A. S. Turner and Sons.
