Mrs. Vera Gong Wong of Peachtree Corners, Georgia passed peacefully on February 13, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and cherished friends. After a courageous battle against cancer, she is now in God's everlasting, loving, and healing hands.
Born August 13, 1957 in Hong Kong, Vera and her family immigrated to the United States in 1972 and settled in New York City. She graduated from Queens College and taught elementary school in New York City. In 1982, she married Mr. Henry Wong of Virginia and relocated to the Atlanta area, where she became a resident of Peachtree Corners and lived until her passing. She was a proud homemaker for her husband and son and also worked a number of years for Equifax in Alpharetta, Georgia. While employed there, she proudly served as a volunteer, providing support for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games and the 2000 Super Bowl.
Vera is survived by her husband Henry and by her son Elliot, daughter-in-law Amanda, and granddaughter Olivia of Hoboken, NJ. In addition, she is survived by her father Hei Gong, mother Hung Lau Gong, sister Vanessa Gong Wager, brother-in-law George Wager, nephew George III, niece Haley, and brothers Wayne and Calvin Gong, all of New York State.
Memorial services will be held with family and close friends at 2:00pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Hollomon-Brown's Tidewater Drive Chapel before interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. The family will receive visitors from 1:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
