Vina Mattie Wahle

Vina Calfee Wahle, Stone Mountain, GA, passed away August 16, 2014. Born in Blakey, KY, October 24, 1938, she was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ritter Calfee, brothers, Wayne, Wendell, and Ben, sisters, Velma, Broma, Ruby, and spouses. She is survived by her husband, Jim and sons, Christopher and Jonathan; brothers, Weldon, Mack and Jack; sisters, Dana and Lorena; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed family reunions. In spite of a serious vision problem, she played team sports in golf and tennis and loved playing bridge. She taught vacation bible school, was a youth counselor, team mother, and was very civic minded, loved gardening and landscaping. She loved taking classes at the Senior University at Mercer and the people and the trips they took, be it one day or a week long. Vina has been cremated and will be interred in Kentucky. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 1:00 pm, with the Rev. Rick Stuckey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association, Alzheimer's Association, Foundation Fighting Blindness, or Hospice of Atlanta. A.S.
