Viola Elizabeth Grant-Morrison

Mrs. Viola Elizabeth Grant Morrison, 101, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012. She was born in Bronx New York, to Joseph Reed and Mabel Walten. She was a living historian who helped raised Edward Lewis, founder of Essence Magazine. She is survived by her son, Charles Herbert Grant; daughter, Glenna Elizabeth Grant Calvin; grandchildren, Khalida Ife Moore and Lillian E. Boateng; eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons at 11:00 AM on Tuesday July 10, with Rev Toni Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
