Virgil Eugene Severin

December 11, 1920 — January 15, 2008

Virgil Eugene Severin, age 87, passed away at his home in Atlanta on January 15, 2008.  He was born in Spokane, WA, on Dec. 11, 1920, and his parents were Herbert and Margaret Severin.  He was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and Gonzaga University.  He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, flying B-17 and B-24 missions over Europe.  He and Virginia Avey were married in 1944, enjoying many years in Spokane raising their children and creating fond memories of camping vacations at Priest Lake in Idaho.  He was a successful warehousing general manager, both in Spokane and Atlanta.  Upon retirement he owned and operated a dry cleaning business.  After Virginia's early death, Virgil spent the last 35 years of his life in the company of his loving and caring companion, Evelyn Stewart.  Many days of his retirement were enjoyed at Lake Lanier with Evelyn, for whom he had much love and admiration.  Virgil's family and friends will remember him for his great sense of humor, positive attitude, kindness, devotion, and dedication to his family.  He was preceded in death by his brother Ken Severin. He is survived by Evelyn Stewart of Atlanta; his sister, Thelma Spaulding of Spokane, WA; his children, Linda Larsen of Bainbridge Island, WA; Suzanne Severin of Atlanta, GA; Patricia Severin Woodward of Franklin, NC; and Mike Severin of Conyers, GA.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Fleur Larsen; Vanessa Brown; Autumn, Forest, Rivers, and Canyon Woodward; Amanda and Michael Severin; and Herman Thompson.  The family will come together for the celebration of his life.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Parkinson's Disease Association.  Family members may be reached to share memories or condolences at PO Box 494, Franklin, NC 28734.
