Virgil Graham Hopkins, Jr., 90, Lithonia, GA passed away on November 22, 2010. Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Virgil G. Hopkins. He grew up in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School. He served in WWII in the Pacific. Virgil had a career as a motion picture salesman for 50 years, traveling weekly around Georgia. In addition, he drew the weekly cartoons for the DeKalb News Sun for many years. Virgil also worked as a part-time actor in several movies, TV shows and commercials. He was a charter member of Glen Haven United Methodist Church and attended there for many years. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Hopkins of Lithonia. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McElroy Hopkins of Lithonia; son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Betty Hopkins of Lilburn; grandchildren, William and Emily Hopkins of Douglasville and Lindsey Hopkins Pollack and Davey Pollack of Statham, Georgia; and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24 at A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, followed by the funeral at 1:00, Rev. Thomas A. Green officiating.
