Virginia Pope Wheeler, 93, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013. She was born in Marietta, GA, August 16, 1919, the daughter of Madge Johnson and Harry Singleton Pope. She attended Girl's High in Atlanta, graduated high school from Young Harris Boarding School, and attended Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Wheeler was the owner of Stratton's Tea Room in Buckhead in the late 60's and early 70's. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Prather Wheeler and her son, John Pope Wheeler. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Hanselman; grandchildren, Jennifer Hatchell and husband Danny, Price Wheeler and wife, April, Whitney Wheeler and fiancé, Kevin Young, Mickey Flynn and wife, Clara; great-grandchildren, Preston, Matthew, and Abby Wheeler, Grace, Claire Mae, and Elsa Hatchell. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Wednesday, June 5th at 11:00 am. Those desiring may send memorial contributions to Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Dr., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30319. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
