Virginia (Jennie) Merle Anderson Hamilton was born on December 16, 1923 in Purvis, MS to Willie Bell Watts Anderson and Roy Anderson and raised mostly in Gulfport, MS. Jennie graduated from Gulfport High School and attended Mississippi State College for Women. World War II was approaching and Jennie met Jack who was stationed in the Army near Gulfport and they later married. After the war Jack and Jennie settled in Decatur, Ga and were blessed with three children- Jackie, Jenny Dell, and Jimmy Roy. Her commitment to her family was always first and foremost. She loved gardening and was a wonderful cook. She was most happy when surrounded by her family and a table of good food. She loved to travel and to play golf at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Jennie's strong Christian Faith was always the steady force in her life and she shared this faith with her family. For many years, she and Jack were active in the First Baptist Church of Decatur and later at Wieuca Road Baptist church in Atlanta. Jennie always relied on her faith to guide her through life - the good times and the bad. She felt that God had given her a peaceful spirt to face anything knowing that God was good - always. Jennie was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson, Sr.; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson, Jr; her sister and brother-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Lenwood S. Sawyer, Sr.; and her son William Jackson Hamilton III. Jenny is survived by her children- Jenny London (David); James R. Hamilton (Jamie); and daughter in law- Judy Hamilton.
