Virginia Scott McLarty, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Decatur, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017. A native of Atlanta, she and her late husband, Charles Loren McLarty, owned and operated the Charles L. McLarty Company, which sold fire engines and fire equipment.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Vivian Jernigan, and a son, Lawrence Scott McLarty, and is survived by his family. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin Scott, of Orlando, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Julia & Fritz Miller; two granddaughters, USAF Majors Ginny & James Trimble, USAF 2nd Lt. Genevieve Miller; grandson, USN LT Charles & Katherine Miller, great-granddaugter, Adelaide Toccoa Miller.
In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial gift in her memory to First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairmont Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 or to the Salvation Army, 2090 N. Druid Hills Road, Atlanta, GA 30329.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday November 24 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker GA, with Dr. Hal Brady officiating. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
