Vivian Kathleen Lanier1921 - 2007Vivian Kathleen Mitchell Lanier known by family and friends as "Kitty; passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007, in her hometown of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She was 86. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Clifford Zannie Lanier; son, Clifford and daughter-in-law Katherine "Cookie" Lanier; her daughter, Claudy "Connie" and son-in-law Donald Green, her daughter, Tresy and son-in-law Darryl Knapps, her daughter Joyce and son-in-law Ken Tapp, her daughter, Dolly Lanier and her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Jimmy Thornton; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harry Lanier; and many nieces, nephews and cousins far and between. Kitty was born in Maysville, Georgia on October 26, 1921. On August 3, 1940 she married Clifford Lanier and resided in Decatur, Georgia, to start a family. In 1954 Clifford's job moved the family to Florida where they raised their six children. Kitty was very active in her church and community. Jacksonville became their home and they later moved to Jacksonville Beach where they retired. Kitty loved the beach and walked the shore for miles. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. In memory of Vivian K. Lanier, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 77 Collier Rd., Suite 2080, Atlanta, GA 30309. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons.
