Vivian Langley "Bobbie" Gillespie

Mrs. Vivian Langley "Bobbie" Gillespie of Decatur, passed away January 28, 2011. She was a native of Atlanta, graduate of Fulton High School and attended Georgia State University. For many years, she was a private bookkeeper for several companies and later retired from Decatur High School Counseling Office in 1987, where she was secretary and bookkeeper with 10 years service. She was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Tabernacle 57 years and presently a member of First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates 19 years, member of the Bill Williams Sunday School Class and Golden Agers Club. She was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia, being a member of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club Atlanta and International. After retirement, she and husband, Charles, traveled throughout Europe, visiting many countries and toured Australia, New Zealand, all 50 states in America and all Canadian provinces. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles R. Gillespie; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Luther Burton III and grandsons, Luther IV and Eric all of Savannah; brother, James Langley of Tucker; sister-in-law, Jessie Mae Finch of Dothan AL and 13 nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 11 am in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Clay Bowden and Rev. Steve Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, 47 Covington Road, Avondale Estates GA 30002; Evercare Hospice, 3720 DaVinci Ct. Ste.400, Norcross GA 30092, or the Alzheimer's Association. The family will receive friends from 4-7 Monday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons.
