Walter Lee Nicholson

Mr. Walter Lee Nicholson, 95, of McDonough, Ga. died Monday, December 28, 2009.  He was a loving husband and father of two.  Walter was one of 9 children.  He lived in Decatur for over 40 years where he owned his own business.  For the past 15 years he resided in McDonough.  He was married to his kind and loving wife, Bernice for 67 years prior to her death in 2003.  One of Walter’s great loves in life, besides his family, was playing golf for which he won numerous trophies.  As a young man he served in the army.  He was a loving and generous father and grandfather, always thinking of his children and granddaughters first.  He is survived by his sister, Jennie Minton; his son and his wife, Barry L. and Kathleen Nicholson; his daughter and son-in law, Linda and Butch Bedell; 4 granddaughters and their husbands: Susan and Troy Wallace, Debbie Nicholson, Stephanie and Beau Durham, Leanne and Chad MacNeil; 6 great grandchildren: Justin Wallace; Bailey, Connor and Hannah Durham; Sydney and Carter MacNeil.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 2 in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Ga.  Rev. Frank Clark will officiate.  Interment will be in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, Ga.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on January 1 at A.S. Turner & Sons.
