Wanda Lee Ford

Wanda Lee Hay Ford, of Avondale Estates went to heaven Sunday, July 17. She was the daughter of Jo Lee McAllister Hay and was born in Mayfield, KY on April 10, 1927. She eloped with her high school sweetheart Harold Edward Ford, and they have celebrated 62 years of marriage. Wanda is survived by her children: Karen Ford Monroe, of Atlanta; and Deborah Ford Randall (the late Dr. Ronald Randall), of Atlanta; and Anita Ford Valdez (Dr Ross Valdez) of Fruitland Park, FL. Her grandchildren are: Britt Randall Buckler (Dr. Bradley Buckler) of Savannah, GA; Lindsey Monroe, of Atlanta; Keith Randall (Anne Dawson Randall) of Birmingham, AL; and Shay Monroe Boone (Stephen) of Nashville, TN. Wanda's great grandchildren are McAllister and Elizabeth Buckler, of Savannah, GA and Liam Boone of Nashville, TN. Wanda and Harold raised their family in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Georgia. She was currently a resident with Harold at Park Springs Communities in Stone Mountain. She dearly loved her churches and was an avid student of scripture. She had an abundance of friends across the country, and everyone will deeply miss her. She loved providing a home for her family while supporting Harold as he travelled and built a successful career. Wanda had a great time playing bridge and had a flair for entertaining and expressing her creative side. She always made sure her girls had new hand sewn dresses. A well lived life. Emory Hospice compassionately cared for Wanda. A funeral service will be at Smoke Rise Baptist Church with her remains being placed in state at 10:00AM, on Thursday July 21, 2011, 5901 Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain, GA, 30087. Dr. J. Truett Gannon and Dr. Robert Browning will be officiating. Interment will take place at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA, 30084. Memorial donations can be made in her name to: Camp Sunshine (a children's cancer program) 1850 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA, 30033. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Wednesday July 20, 2011 at A.S. Turner and Sons 2773 North Decatur Road Decatur, GA 30033.
