Wayne Leroy Stephens

Wayne LeRoy Stephens, age 95, died on August 9, 2016. In 1943, Wayne was married to Mildred Tullis in Valdosta, GA, and they enjoyed 73 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; their three children, Judy Carter of Birmingham, AL, June Rogers and husband Hank of Marietta, GA, and Lee Stephens and wife Jan of Monticello, GA; his sister, Lois Stephens of Prattville, AL.; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Wayne was a Lt Col in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of Silver Wings. Following his military career, Wayne worked as an Engineer with Southern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years. He was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church for over 50 years. Wayne will be missed by all who knew him. The family will receive guests, Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA. The memorial service will be Saturday, August 13, 2016, officiated by KingsBridge Chaplin, the Rev. Greg Smith, and will be from 3:00 - 4:00 pm at KingsBridge Retirement Center, 3055 Briarcliff Road, NE, Atlanta, GA, 30329.
