Wayne Seymour Bailey

Wayne Seymour Bailey died peacefully at Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday November 30, 2017 at the age of 77 after a year long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Agnor Bailey of Decatur, Georgia, daughter Ruth Laurens and her husband Robert Laurens and granddaughters Ashley and Erin.

He was born on August 12, 1940 in West Hartford, Connecticut to Wallace and Ella Bailey. He attended The Loomis Chaffee School, Middlebury College and did graduate work at Florida State University. He had a varied business career and his last enterprise was helping to start Mountain National Bank. After his retirement, he became a docent at the Carlos Museum at Emory University where he enjoyed introducing young children to the many artifacts at the Museum. He had numerous interests including cooking, traveling and creating exquisite needlework projects.

The family will receive visitors on Monday December 4th from 5-8pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday December 5th at 2:30pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home with a visitation from 1-2pm. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, Georgia. Contributions can be made to the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University - 571 South Kilgo Circle NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30322.
