Wiley Douglas Welsh passed away on Saturday morning May 20, 2017. Doug, as known by his friends, was born on October 11, 1954 in Atlanta, GA. Doug was a true lover and a fighter, fighting constantly to survive two bouts with cancer and a severe heart condition while passionately pursuing his love of God, family, baseball and growing the world’s hottest peppers. His accomplishments include published poetry, completing a bible read through three times, coaching thousands of youth baseball games, plotting hundreds of ridiculous practical jokes, finding a beautiful woman, who is the mother of his children and becoming a uniquely caring father. Doug is survived by his sons; Robert and Andrew, his father; Robert Dewey Welsh, his sister; Debby Logan, his granddaughter; Abigail and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Chapel. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home
