William "Bill" Lamar Watkins

September 3, 1947 — October 31, 2016

William L. (Bill) Watkins, Decatur, died on October 31, 2016 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Sept. 3, 1947 to Harriet L. and W. L. Watkins. Bill graduated from Decatur High School in 1966. Afterward he joined the US Navy and served 6 years during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife and partner of 41 years, Laura W. Paul; his sister, Jean W. Cox; Katherine Watkins; Reggie Bond; a myriad of nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. He was predeceased by three siblings. Bill was a valued and dedicated employee of Nova Commercial Interiors for the last 16 years. He worked hard and played hard. His love of motorcycles and enduro races is renowned. He was a long time member of SETRA and was secretary of the Georgia Crackers Motorcycle Club.

Bill's innate kindness and generosity included his support of rescue animals. In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation to your favorite animal charity e.g. Lifeline Animal Project, 129 Lake St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002.
