William C. Denman, 94, of Florence, Alabama passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday January 27 from 10:00am – 11:00am. The service will follow at 11:00 with Rev. John McKell officiating. Burial will be at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, GA.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Seay Denman; his parents, Julius and Minnie Denman; three sisters, Louise Outlaw, Cynthia Holtzclaw, and O’bedia Braddy; and four brothers, Julius, Andrew, Woodrow, and Harry Denman.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Denman Curtis (Marc), Janice Denman McKell (John); grandchildren, Stephanie Curtis (Mark Sprouse), and Eric Curtis (Jessica); and great granddaughter, Brooke Curtis.
Bill was born in 1923. On his 18th birthday, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and Bill then enlisted in the Air Force where he began training as a fighter pilot. When the war ended he entered the reserves and served until 1955. In August 1950 he married Charlotte Seay. Bill spent his career in sales and marketing with Western Auto, Curtis 1000, Case Hoyt, and American Lithograph. He loved to crochet as a hobby and has made blankets for many people over the years. Bill and Charlotte lived in the Atlanta area until they were 80 years old. In 2004 they moved to Florence, Alabama from Tucker, Georgia and he served as an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Being a lifelong Presbyterian he dedicated his life to serving others. He was a giving and loving individual and always gave of himself.
Pallbearers will be Steve Bright, Eric Curtis, Don Denman, Steve Denman, Chris Henderson and Mark Sprouse.
