William Calvin Weeks, Jr.

March 31, 1918 — November 19, 2008

William Calvin Weeks, Jr. of Decatur died Wednesday, November 19 at the age of 90.  He was born March 31, 1918 in the family home on Bull Street in Savannah, Georgia.  Mr. Weeks attended Savannah High and Tech High Schools.  He received a degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech.  A member of the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame, he captained Tech’s 1942 SEC Championship Track team.  During WWII he served as an Armament and Special Services officer in a B-24 Bomb Group in England.  He enjoyed a long productive career in Sears Southeastern Territory where he retired as Regional VP of Transportation. He is survived by his second wife, Vernice Shealy Weeks, son Bill Weeks III and wife Janice of Marietta, daughter Barbara and husband Jim Wells of Bluffton SC, daughter Beverly and husband Joe Kyle of Atlanta; granddaughters Amy Weeks, and Amanda and husband Travis Szwast; grandson Kevin Kyle and two great grandchildren. Visitation at noon and Memorial Service at 1pm on Sunday, November 23 at A. S. Turner and Sons.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Dekalb Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Unit are requested.
