William E. Hunt, Jr.

William Eldred Hunt, Jr. died July 19, 2013 surrounded by family at his home in Stone Mountain, Ga.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Nancy McDonald Hunt; children Trey, Tiffany, Chris, and Heath Hunt, Mac and Danica Hunt Wright, Jessica Lane, and John and Cara Hunt Dury; siblings Jackie Hogue and Harry Hunt. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was born in Atlanta to the late Eldred and Pearl Hunt. He spent time as a child in California before moving to Alabama to finish his schooling. Upon graduation from high school, he returned to Atlanta to pursue work in the sheet metal industry.
Bill became an accomplished metal worker and a successful Mechanical Contractor as owner of Georgia Metal Systems and Georgia Construction Services. He retired in his 40s but continued to use his skillful hands and express his creativity through antiquing, furniture crafting, trike conversions and goat farming. Never able to stay idle, he also kept busy with many projects in his garage – from restoring vintage cars to building a model railroad city.
He was a known animal lover- affectionately nicknamed Dr. Doolittle, (the Beastmaster and animal whisperer).
Bill leaves a legacy of love for family and friends, especially his best friend of 50 years J. T." Blue" Chilton and his wife Hilda. He fought hard to the end to stay with us. We will miss him so much, but know he is with us in our hearts and memories.

A memorial service will be held at the family home August 10, 2013 at 11am, Dr. Truett Gannon officiating. Cook out and celebration of life to follow.
