William Eddie Austin

November 20, 1946 — April 11, 2010

Mr. William Eddie (Bill) Austin, 63, of Marietta passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010,  after an extended and valiant fight with cancer. He served 7 years as a helicopter pilot with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded numerous medals including the silver and bronze star.  He continued to serve in the TN National Guard. He graduated from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. After leaving the service, Mr. Austin worked for Wholesale Pizza, American Tea and Coffee and PPG.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Marietta. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carla Austin; son, Chris Austin of Marietta; brother, Terry Austin and his wife Debbie of Dover, TN; sister, Barbara Wallace and her husband Lee of Knoxville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Carmichaels Funeral Home, 1130 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, GA 30064. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held Friday, April 16 at 2:30 PM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Pastor Ron Grunke and Rev. Lee Wallace will officiate.
