William Franklin White, 84, of Atlanta, died May 10, 2014. A native of Atlanta, Mr. White was a graduate of Georgia State University. He served his county in the U. S. Army during the war in Korea. An accountant in the credit department at General Electric, Mr. White retired after 38 years of dedicated and faithful service. His community activities included membership for over 50 years in the Yaarab Shrine Temple, Patrol Unit; Scottish Rite, KCCH Knight Commander Court of Honor; York Rite; Masters Lodge #295, FandAM; Metro Daylight Lodge #743, FandAM; American Legion Post 1, and the Forty and Eight Voiture #217; and, very proudly, accumulating over 25, 000 hours during a 52 year span as a volunteer at the Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital. Mr. White was a lifelong member of Orange United Methodist Church in Cherokee County. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert White and sister, Alice Cowart, and is survived by his niece, Jo Ann Cowart; nephew, Ralph "Butch" Cowart; and several cousins. The funeral service will be held 3 pm, Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons, with Rev. Phill Nall officiating. The committal service will be held 5:45 pm, Smith Cemetery, 1225 Cumming Hwy, Canton GA 30115, with Rev. Nall and Dr. Mark Outlaw officiating.
