William Hamilton Lowery

William H. ("Bill" or "Butch") Lowery passed away on August 16, 2016 at the age of 100. He was born in Unadilla, Georgia on June 3, 1916. His parents were Louie Wade Lowery and Martha Beulah Woodruff Lowery. Bill earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1937. His entire career of 43 years was with Georgia Power Co., retiring in 1982 as the Superintendent of Substations for the Atlanta District.
He was a longtime member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors Retiree Club. Also, he was an ardent "ham" radio operator and a member of the Alford Memorial Radio Club.

Bill was married to the former Dorothy Elizabeth Brown for 50 years until she predeceased him in 1991. He is survived by his daughters Martha Reinhardt and Dorothy Phillips, his sons-in-law Jon Reinhardt and Bill Phillips, his grandson Dr. William R. "Rusty" Phillips, Jr., and his niece Elizabeth A. Brown.

There will be a memorial service in the Little Chapel of Glenn Memorial UMC at 1660 N. Decatur Road in Atlanta on Friday, Aug. 19th, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a visitation with the family in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Unadilla UMC, 325 School Ave., Unadilla, GA 31091.
