William (Bill) Worrell, Jr. died on Sunday October 22, 2017. He was born in Buffalo, NY in April of 1925. He graduated from Woodland High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps soon after. He was trained at Paris Island, South Carolina. After training he served in the Pacific where he was awarded two battle stars. In 1950 he was called to active duty for the Korean Conflict. In his Marine career, he attained the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and followed that as Warrant Officer 1. Bill retired in 1985 after 39 years with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 and was awarded for Meritorious Service. In his civilian career, he graduated from University of Georgia with a Masters Degree in Education. Following his graduation, he taught vocational agriculture in Newnan, GA and at Tallulah Falls School. He joined AT&T/ Bell South in 1956 and worked until he retired in 1982. Bill was active in his church and community serving as Deacon in his Baptist church and an Elder in the Presbyterian church. He was a Boy Scout leader for 17 years helping numerous young men attain the rank of Eagle. He was a member and volunteer for the International Lions Club for 55 years. Bill is survived by his children, Barbara and Delos Johnson, Bill and Harriett Worrell, and Rick and Shayne Worrell. In addition, Bill was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jeane and his youngest son, David. His services will be held on Friday October 27 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with interment to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday October 26 at A. S. Turner & Sons.
