Mr. William JC Manus of Atlanta went to be with his Lord on June 18, 2008 at the age of 92. He was born September 3, 1915 in Pendergrass, GA to Charles and Julia Manus, but spent all of his life in Atlanta. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy Seabees. After returning from service, Mr. Manus became a very successful business owner. One of his greatest passions was his total devotion to Epworth United Methodist Church. A member for over 60 years, he served in numerous capacities and was always extraordinarily generous of his time and resources. He was enthusiastically supportive of the church's place in the community and in the lives of its members. His love for his family was the central theme in his life. A wonderfully caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, he was forever encouraging the very best in each of us. The example that this very special man gave us will go forward for generations to come. Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Hazel; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Jane Manus of Chamblee, GA, Dr. Bill and Judy Manus of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Thigpen; and brother, Clifton Manus and his wife, Jodi; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 22nd at 3:00 P.M. at Epworth United Methodist Church, Rev. Lisa Dempsey officiating. Interment services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of JC Manus to Epworth United Methodist Church, 1561 McLendon Ave., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30307. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, and Sunday, from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Epworth United Methodist Church. A. S. Turner & Sons, (404) 292-1551.
