Mr. William Jerome Harber of Stone Mountain, GA, died November 24, 2010. He was a veteran of World War II serving in U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre and was a 33 degree Mason. A dedicated family man, Mr. Harber was the owner and President of Harber Crate Company. He along with three other men started the DeKalb Memorial Athletic Association, where he served as President, Treasurer, Manager and Umpire. He was also President of the East Atlanta Exchange Club. He served as deacon of East Atlanta Baptist Church, Whiteford Baptist Church and Wesley Chapel Baptist, where he helped build the church. He was an Honorary DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy, a member of the Democratic National Committee, Safari Woods Neighborhood Committee and started Brotherhood of New Testament Baptist Church. He was founder of the Rockbridge Coalition between the mid 80's and the mid 90's and his favorite past time was bass fishing. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Stevens Harber; sons, Richard Harber and wife, Wanda, Gary Harber and wife Anneliese and grandson Michael Harber; step daughter, Linda Granade; step son, Bobby Tinsley, Jr.; brothers, Robert Harber and wife Cora, Gene Harber; sister-in-law, Betty Harber; sisters, Libby Bouwmans, Mary Ann Johnson and husband Harold; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Hendon Harber, and brother, Bartowe Harber, sister-in-law, June Harber; and brother-in-law, Bill Bouwmans. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, November 27th at New Testament Baptist Church, 2352 Old Rex Morrow Road Ellenwood, GA 30294 with Rev. Fred Tag officiating. Interment Green Meadows Cemetery, Conyers, GA. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
