William Tullis

February 3, 1952 — August 7, 2010

Audio production and commercial voice-over wizard William “Troll” Tullis passed away Saturday August 7, 2010 at his home in Atlanta.  Bill began his radio career at student radio station WVVS-FM at Valdosta State College. He moved to Atlanta in the early 1970s and joined Ed Shane's progressive-formatted WPLO-FM. His career path shifted to television and Bill spent 20+ years at Ted Turner’s WTBS-TV. He produced audio for shows such as the infamous “Bill Tush Early Morning Update” and singer-songwriter James Brown. “Troll” (his self-appointed nickname) was behind the board as producer on many award-winning production projects, including theme music for the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the Olympics. After leaving WTBS, Troll devoted his skills to freelance work and his home and mobile audio recording business. He recorded, mastered, and/or advised many major recording artists, including Dolly Parton and James Taylor.  Visitation and viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 11, 2010, from 6pm to 8pm at A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road., Atlanta, 30033.  A graveside service will be held Thursday August 12, 10am, at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Stone Mountain, GA. 30083.
