Captain Willie Clifton (Bill) Bussey was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 18, 1936 to Clifton Gerrell and Martha Louise Williams Bussey. He departed this life for his eternal heavenly home on October 25, 2013. As a small boy he always wished for an airplane and an airplane suit. In 1952 he hitch-hiked to the Atlanta Airport from South DeKalb and washed airplanes for $4.00 a day or one hour of flying time. He received his flying license before his driver's license. He graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School and joined the Georgia Air National Guard in 1954. He started pilot training as an aviation cadet January 1956, and attended Advanced Interceptor School at Perrin Air Force Base. He retired as Major from the Georgia Air National Guard. In August of 1959 he was employed by Eastern Airlines where he worked for 31 years until they ceased operations in 1991. He went to Taiwan and flew Captain for EVA Airlines and instructed in the simulator until his retirement in 1998. Bill was a Mason and a member of the Silver Wings Fraternity, Order of Daedalians, EAA, REPA, and AOPA. He recently received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for 50 years of accident free-flying. He was a member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church where he had served as deacon and elder. Bill is survived by wife of 50 years, Ann Lee Garbutt Bussey; Daughter Laura Alice Bussey of Covington, GA; sons, Willie Clifton Clif Bussey Jr., and David Heath Bussey, both of Atlanta; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Gerrelldine and John Bomar, Cindy and Larry Edmondson all of Stockbridge, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Interment service with full military honors will be 10:00 AM Tuesday October 29th at Resthaven Garden of Memories 2284 candler Road, Decatur, GA followed by a visitation in Founders Hall, Eastminister Presbyterian Church 5801 Hugh Howell Road Stone Mountain. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 PM with a light lunch afterwards in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
