Mrs. Wilma Headrick Miller, 94, of Decatur died Monday, January 25, 2010. A native of Oakdale, Tennessee, Mrs. Miller graduated from Oakdale High School, Tennessee Weslyan College, and the University of Tennessee. Before becoming a fulltime homemaker and raising her sons, she worked briefly as a high school teacher in Jacksboro TN, and as an administrative assistant at the Pentagon during World War II. Mrs. Miller was always active in volunteer work including activities at her sons’ schools and after her husband’s death in 1981she devoted many years as librarian at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Milton Miller, and brothers, Dr. William L. Headrick, Jr. and Dr. James R. Headrick. She is survived by sons, Milton E. “Skip” Miller, Jr. of Conyers, James L. Miller of Port St. Lucie FL; grandchildren, Michael E. Miller of Omaha NE, Tracey M. Tran of Greensboro NC, and Joshua Miller of Tulsa OK; three great grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Eble of Harriman TN, and Carolyn Broady of Pigeon Forge TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Rutland Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 11 a.m. , Thursday, January 28, with Rev. Bob Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in memory of Wilma Miller to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Center, Atlanta, GA 30345. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
