Winston Walton (Wink) Anderson was born in Summerville, GA to Dr. Malcolm W. and Jonnie Anderson. He was reared in Harlan, Kentucky and moved to Miami as a young man to work in the x-ray department of the local hospital. He entered the service in 1941 and was assigned to the hospital x-ray department at Camp Blanding, FL where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was cited for his innovative way of identifying German POW's. After World War II, he returned to Social Circle and began farming. Hearing the siren call of Madame Curie, he entered the health care field and was a leading salesman for hospital x-ray equipment. After retirement, he began a second career with Orkin Exterminators. He died on March 3, 2008 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, whom he loved dearly, Lucile Cobb Anderson; 3 children: Winston K. (Kenny) Anderson, Dr Larry W. and Pat Anderson, Gail and Jack Scheu; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer and Richie Morrison, Julie and Mark McDuffie, Rev. William and Christy Anderson, Amy and Frank Denlinger, Laura W. Anderson, and Jodi Williams; 8 great grandchildren: Sophie Morrison, Mary Anderson, Georgia Anne McDuffie, Charlotte Morrison, Joshua and Peter Anderson, Grant McDuffie and Zoe McNeil; a niece and 3 nephews: Carol Anderson Malcom, Bobby and Carol Mann, Mack and Mary Anderson, Howard and Nancy Mann. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, March 6th at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, Ga. Dr. Bob Wiley will officiate. Pallbearers will be J.C. White, Mike Warlick, Richie Morrison, Mark McDuffie, Frank Denlinger, Joe McNeil and Mike Pefferly. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, March 5th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons.
