Wynn Armstrong Creal, 84, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on January 7th, 2021 after a month long battle with COVID-19. Wynn was born on November 4, 1936 in Newnan, Georgia to Jesse Jones Armstrong of Hogansville, Georgia and Louise Wynn of Newnan, Georgia. She grew up in Savannah in the Gordonston neighborhood. After graduating from the Pape School in Savannah, Georgia in 1954, she went on to study Latin and French at the University of Georgia. After her graduation in 1958, she became a teacher. She taught English at Druid Hills High School where she frequently purchased work books for her less fortunate students. She taught French and Latin at Pace Academy and Mt. Vernon Christian Academy for over 20 years. After a satisfying career in teaching, she obtained her real estate license and had a successful 40 year career as a residential real estate agent primarily in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta. She met her first husband George “Buddy” Creal in college, and they wed in 1958 and had their first and only son, George Chadwell Creal, Jr. in 1967. Wynn dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother, even after a divorce and difficult financial times, she managed to be a successful mother and business woman. She would make dinner, set her son down to his homework and make business calls until 9 or 10 at night. Wynn had a big heart and frequently opened her home to family members and friends supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether lending a helping hand to family or to friends, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Wynn was also a devoted grandmother to her granddaughters. She would have camps with them at the farm in Conyers with horseback riding, swimming, campfires, ice cream and all kinds of outdoor fun. Wynn was a passionate tennis player, master gardener, equestrian and lover of animals, her home was filled with warmth, kindness, laughter, antiques, dogs, cats, horses and even an orphaned flying squirrel. We will miss her greatly. Wynn was predeceased by her father and mother Jesse Jones Armstrong, Louise Wynn Armstrong Bailey of Savannah, her step-father Thomas Bailey of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and her Aunt Elizabeth Hutchens of Newnan. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George C. Creal, Jr. and Casey O’Neal Creal of Atlanta; her granddaughters Claudia Sara Creal and Ella Wynn Creal; her brother and sisters Jesse Armstrong Jr. of Newnan, Louise Grotheer, and Dotty Armstrong of Savannah; her nieces and nephews Karl and Mendy Grotheer, Lea Wright, Jeff Armstrong, Jesse Armstrong, Beth Armstrong Farmer The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2?df_id=39209&mfc_pref=T&39209.donation=form1 or North Avenue Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia at https://www.napc.org/give/ where four generations of Creal’s have worshipped. There will be a grave side service in Savannah, Georgia at 2 pm on January 16, 2021 at Hillcrest Abbey East for close family only due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A memorial service will be planned for a later date when virus has abated.
