Zackary Gerald Butler, 77, of Decatur died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, following a long battle with COPD. With his strong work ethic, he never really retired. He spent 44 years at Leiphart Chevrolet, 6 years at Superior Chevrolet and continued working occasionally at his son’s shop, Butler Automotive. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. Mr. Butler was born, February 23, 1933 to W. Frank Butler and Flossie Lee Fallen Butler in Zebulon, Georgia. He spent the last 55 years in DeKalb County, Georgia. A loving and devoted husband and father, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Lonita Davis Butler, and son, Tony Lamar Butler. Surviving are his beloved children, Sherrell Lynn Butler Warbington and husband Rick Coggins of Snellville, Gerald J. “Jerry” Butler of Decatur, William Marion “Boone” Butler and wife Caryl of Snellville, Earl Lee Butler and wife Linh Nguyen of Loganville; grandchildren, Bill Warbington, Tim Warbington, Nocona Butler, Austin Butler, Kerrie Butler, Nicole Butler, Tom Butler, Amanda Butler; great grandchildren, Ripley, Lane, Rhanon, Tony; sister, Naomi Kelly of Decatur and numerous nieces and nephews, and companion Rebel. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Perry Butler, Barry Davis, Frank Berry, Christopher Berry, Russell Shadix and ________. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27th at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Ken Sweat officiating. Interment, Melwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
